The next song and lyric video "To Make It Real" off of the upcoming EP "Songs In Color" comes out this Tuesday! Keep your eyes peeled. I also have a lot of exciting announcements about the new album and some shows you won't want to miss. Stay tuned folks. Album comes out on iTunes October 15th!!
It's been a fun few days finishing up the "Songs In Color" EP. On Monday, my friend Mike Scott came to record his monster 8-string bass on the final two songs. He did a heck of a job. He also sang some harmonies on one of the tunes. Grant Beachy, who is engineering and co-producing also played drums as well as on all the other songs. It's great having a producer who is a drummer. It's one of the aspects of producing I'm not the best at so it definitely works out for the better. On Tuesday, I finished up all the guitars and vocals for the two songs and Ryan Blaske came by at night to shoot two more music lyric videos. And for today, Grant and I are doing any last minute things we need to do.... programming, tambos, harmonies. It's been a busy few days but I'm ready to get this EP out there!! About 80% of the way done with everything needed to do in order to release this thing. I hope people will enjoy it. I have a really good feeling about it. Stay tuned guys. Next Tuesday the next song and video for the track "To Make It Real" comes out!!
Hope you guys are enjoying the new song "Predators". The lyric video is below If you haven't seen it yet. The next song and video comes out a week from Tuesday! Yesterday, I played a festival in Nappanee, IN and It was much more than I was expecting. Played a full band set with Mike Scott on bass and Mike Armstrong on drums. Couldn't have asked for a better crowd. We played a lot of 70's tunes that a lot of the older folks probably didn't expect us to play. It was great to see all the smiles and people singing along to songs they grew up listening and making memories to. Playing this gig made me realize a couple things... Playing other artists songs is more than okay to do as long as you enjoy playing the song. I have been playing cover songs out at bars for a few years now and have never had a feeling as strong as I had with some people in the crowd. There is no better feeling than playing a song that you yourself connect with and then singing it live to others that you can see are also connecting with it. That happened quite often as I looked out from the stage. That's the beauty of music. It's all about the connections we make with the songs we love. I just really wish we could create some real tunes today for the general public of this generation to hear. But anyways, the biggest thing that came over me while we were playing our last song was that I never want and never will do anything else for the rest of my life but play music for people. This is definitely not something I just realized but more of a thing where I was being reminded that this is what I am supposed to do. To hear the crowds applause after we finished with "Sister Golden Hair" by America was almost a strange feeling. We were playing a song by my favorite band to people who were appreciating it and connecting with it so much that it made me feel like I wrote every note myself. Thank you for that. To everyone that was there and came over to hear us play, Thank you. Hope you all had a good rest of your day.
